Elizabeth Kings Head Inn
The market town of Beccles, situated on the River Waveney, was once a flourishing Saxon seaport. Nowadays you will see an array of pleasure boats and small yachts cruising through the peaceful Broads.
The parish of St Michael's with its imposing detached bell tower, dating from the early 16th century, serves as a landmark for miles around. It was St Michael's in 1749 that Catherine Suckling married the Reverend Edward Nelson and later gave birth to one of the greatest seafarers in history - Lord Horatio Nelson.
Modern Beccles is a popular base for touring the local countryside with provision for walking, cycling and boating with mooring facilities at the Quay.
The King's Head Hotel, a 16th century Inn located in the centre of Beccles, is a popular hostelry with visitors to Suffolk. The hotel offers comfortable accommodation, good service and a friendly atmosphere.
