Brigg first grew as a crossing point on the River Ancholme, taking its name from the bridge constructed to make east-west journeys easier. It has a colourful history of markets and fairs and is today a thriving market town.

Arties Mill & Lodge is located 1 mile from the town of Brigg and is a charming old windmill originally built circa 1790. The adjoining grain sheds and mill interior have been converted into bars, restaurant and function rooms, providing a pleasant and friendly atmosphere whilst retaining many of the interesting features of its history. Just a few yards from the mill set in attractive landscape gardens is the Lodge housing a choice of en-suite bedrooms

There are number of popular attractions within very easy access of Brigg, which amongst others include Elsham Hall Country & Wildlife Park, Normandy Hall and historical ruins of Thornton Abbey, a former Augustine Abbey.
